Did You Know That Eskimos Have 21 Words For Snow?

At first when I heard this statistic I was amazed, but then I started to think I'll bet us Minnesotans do as well. Me being a life long Minnesotan who skis and shovels and plows and sleds and makes snowmen. I betcha I can come up with 21 words for snow, here goes.

• Powder
• Corn Snow
• Hard Packed
• Wind Blown
• Drifted
• Crud
• Crusty
• Mogels
• Flurries
• Icy
• Patchy
• Sleet
• Slush
• Slop
• Fluffy
• Groomed
• Base
• Manmade
• Plowed

OK, not as many as the Eskimos but close.

Just in case you haven't seen these here are Clavin's snowman cartoons.

You used groomed twice. I love your global warming song, any chance of you selling it on a CD and that motor home with the wood stove is outrageous. PS your dogs look way to happy about all the snow, give them a good scolding.

Good catch! I'll have to fix that.

Look in the next few days we will be selling a DVD of all our songs and movies.

You're organization is truly inspiring. Over here in Michigan, we see some of the worst weather winter has to throw at us.

My friend and I would like to start a club/society in Michigan (maybe even at our high school) for the promotion of global warming. Unfortunately, though, we cannot use the name M4GW (Michiganders for global warming), since that might confuse us with you guys. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.

P.S. To do our part, we will try our best to burn as much styrofoam and cut down as many trees as possible. Let's turn Michigan into the new Florida!

I'm not sure if you got the last post I sent, since my computer is not cooperating lately, so I'll resend it:

You're organization is truly inspiring. Living in Michigan, we have seen some of the worst weather winter can throw at us.

My friend and I would like to start our own club/society in Michigan (maybe even at our high school) promoting global warming. We need a name, though, since Michiganders For Global Warming (M4GW) would confuse us with you guys. Seeing how you are so passionate about the cause, maybe you will have a good idea. Thanks.

P.S. To do our part in the effort to enhance global warming, we will try to burn as much styrofoam and cut down as many trees as possible. Let's turn Michigan into the new Florida!

I would just go with the full name "Michiganders For Global Warming". There is also a Canadians For Global Warming, Montanans for Global Warming. Or you could start a "Minnesotans For Global Warming, Michigan Chapter" (we do have an Ohio and Texas Chapter). If your upper Michiciganders you could be "Yupers For Global Warming" that would be a real hoot.

If your from the Southern Peninsula does that make you "Lopers" or "Downers" or something like that?

I like the site too. Evan perhaps you could use the name, m4gw-Michigan.com or create a subchapter with elmer willing like m4gw.com/michigican or the like?

I like that- the Michigan chapter of M4WG. I will consult my friend and let you guys know if this makes any progress. Thanks.

By the way, downstaters are known among Yupers as "Fudgies" for their lust for Mackinac fudge!
(I'm a downstater, but spend too much time up north to be called a fudgy)

Great article. As a former Michigander, I feel that "Lake Effect" (fine, two words) should make the list. Just ask anyone on the eastern shore of Lake Michigan or in Buffalo and I think you'll find consensus.

Good point.
• Lake Effect

plus, there is the kind of snow thats good for making snowballs and snowmen, not sure what its called though.

* Good Snowball Making Snow?

Your forgot graupel ~ my husband tried to pull that on me this year. "No! No, it isn’t snow. It’s just graupel!"

It was November 11... we got snow Good Friday and we are supposed to get it again this weekend. Six months with snow on the ground.

I think good snowball making snow is called wet and heavy snow. Then you got your light and fluffy snow and your dry snow. Right now, I have some snow that is like concrete in my back yard.

Stumbled in here from sda and had a good laugh. Thanks. Hope you get some glowball warming there soon.

Was very pleased to find this site.I wanted to thank you for this great read!! I clearly glad every little bit of it and I have bookmarked to check out new stuff you post.
