AIG and The New Math

I have always been a big fan of the "New" Math, being a visual person it was very easy for me to understand the concept of 10s and 100s portrayed by bundles of sticks and I think the new math would help when it comes to the AIG Bonus situation.

When The American People Get Angry They Get Things Done. When it was discovered that Governor Blagojevich was even thinking about selling Obama's Senate seat, there was instantaneous nationwide outrage and "Boom" he was gone. And now with the millions of dollars of bonuses going to AIG execs, again the American people got instantly angered and "Boom" things are happening to change that.

The American people are justified in their anger, but I think they are misdirecting their anger to  comparatively small targets, and when they see what the bonuses actually look like, maybe they will get angry at things that actually matter.

What the Bonuses Look Like
Thanks to pagetutor

We'll start with a $100 dollar bill, a "C-note", a Franklin, not worth as much as it used to be but still a nice denomination.

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and will still buy you a nice used car.

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it. Had Blagojevich actually sold Obama's Senate seat it probably would have looked something like this.

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, the $165 million in AIG Bonuses
is a little more respectable and worthy of our outrage.

Next we'll look at the 180 Billion dollars which was given to AIG as a "Bailout".
Maybe we should have gotten a little more angry a little earlier about this one,
especially when almost 1/2 of it has gone to foreign banks.

Maybe when you're "Too Big To Fail" you are "Too Big To Exist".

There is still time on the next one.
Obama's Cap & Trade Bill to stop "Global Warming" will cost the U.S. 2 Trillion dollars.
Maybe if we see what that looks like we can get angry in advance and stop it.

Excellent illustration for the billions of "Sesame Street"-nurtured visual learners!
This deserves to be a feature on the nightly news of each major television network. I wonder why I haven't seen it anywhere?

Thanks, I got the illustrations form pagetutor and messed with the info to make it more poignant to today. I might make a youTube version.

Think how much energy we'll save by not having to print all this money.

any way you could submit this to a major network, they just might bite on this graphic...?

I love this site, is it updated often? Added to favorites :)

Hi i just stumbled your blog from Bing and have been browsing around some of your posts and just wondering why you chose a Wordpress site dont you find it difficult to do anything with? Also a security concern?

Sounds great, I’ll have to give it a shot.

This really is a really great resource that you are providing and you also give it away free of charge. I like to see web sites which realize the significance of delivering a outstanding resource for free. I truly liked reading your article. Many thanks!
