Last week at the G8 President Obama called for an 80% reduction in CO2 by 2050, I think this will be a problem. By 2050 the earth's population will increase, probably not double like it did in the last 50 years. But with heavily populated countries like China and India coming on line, the demand for energy will probably double. I don't think wind and solar alone can create that amount of energy, unless every square inch of spare earth is covered with either a solar panel or a wind generator.
Unlike his predecessor Obama isn't stupid, yet he speaks with such authority that this is an attainable goal.
There are 3 possibilities on what's going on here.
1. President Obama, though no dumby, is not very good with math.
2. He wants us to go back to an agrarian society.
3. He knows something that we don't know.
Like a new source of energy or technology that will totally revolutionize society.
Here are some examples of what it could be:
Back in the 90s Stanley Meyers invented a car that runs on Water
John Kansas who found a way to burn saltwater and cure Cancer
Denny Klein invented a welder that runs on water and is working on a car that runs on water.
United Nuclear has invented a way to run your cars on hydrogen.
Or how about an engine that runs on anything?
What happens to all of these technologies?
They never make the national main stream press, they are either just on the local news or the internet. The mistake all these people make is, they meet with the "Government" and then these technologies curiously disappear, probably for "National Security" reasons. But all the Pentagon can think of to do with these technologies is make things like, robots that eats human flesh.
Remember the last scene in Indiana Jones where the Arch of the Covenant is placed into a giant warehouse of other great discoveries that will never be used? You know its true!
The reason the Government never let's these technologies out of the bag is because it would change everything. Let's say GM were to come out with a car that you can fill up with a garden hose. Overnight, every gas station, oil company, and ethanol plant would be out of business. Eventually every coal, nuclear and hydro electric plant would also close. Do you think the oil execs would let that happen? I don't think so.
This is the year 2009 - this is supposed to be the future yet every technology we use today was invented 100 years ago. Not even! Tesla had a better way to distribute electricity than we have today. The problem is Profit and Power. J.P. Morgan shut down Tesla's Tower cause it couldn't be metered like electricity through a line. How can you control a people that can have unlimited energy for free?
The good news is, the people aren't waiting for GM or the Government to provide us with alternatives. Go to youTube and search car runs on water.
I think this is finally pushing our Government to allow these technologies to happen, and that's why they are scrambling to come up with a way to tax us per mile driven instead of per gallon of gas used, and to figure out how to control water, and probably why they took over GM. Just imagine, the New 2011 Chevrolet Water Powered Car that you can fill up with your garden hose, and Obama will receive all the glory. He will have single-handedly saved GM, the economy and the entire planet just in time for the 2012 elections.
We know for sure he wants CHANGE, we just don't know what CHANGE
Yeah, I wish he would have been more specific on what the changes were going to be.

I'm sorry, but you are not very astute. There is no possibility in this universe anything can run on water without using much more energy than it generates. The same is true of hydrogen to a lesser extent. These are totally impractical from a physical science standpoint. They are the equivalent of the impossible "perpetual motion" machine. The true reason that Obama wants to eliminate oil and coal is that he wants to destroy the economy and replace it with his socialist vision of "utopia". This is the land where you and I live in semi-poverty and are totally dependent on the benevolence of the master government. We are told what to do in every aspect of our lives, while Obama and his fellow Democrat rulers live in luxury. They will have the finest healthcare available, not the state-run crap they want to give us. Wake up! Bush was no "dumby". He received an MBA from Yale. What are your educational credentials? Obama, on the other hand, got an Affirmative Action degree from Harvard. We have no idea what his SAT scores were, what his grades were, or what thesis papers he wrote. He has hidden these from everyone. Why would he do this? Because he is so smart? He is a total fraud.
Regardless of Obama's IQ, his handlers have to know that the 2050 goal is unattainable. So your probably right there is no incredible technology waiting in the wings and he wants to send us back to the Dark Ages.

Having a little bit of chemistry background, I believe it is possible.
Certain reactions consume less energy under the proper conditions. Most often this is in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst, for whatever reason, makes it easier to break the components of water apart.
Catalysts can take many forms. Chemical (the presence of other chemistry/ions/metals. No reason their could not also be some electro-magnetic one either that might allow a smaller use of electricity.
Not condoning this particular one, just don't write it off so easily. Catalysts change things. And each reaction has its own peculiarities.

Hi, I'm sorry Elmer but Andrew is right there are no technologies that produce energy from water, unless it is a hydro electric dam. All of those videos are total frauds. The whole notion that GM or the government buys these patents and then sits on them is ridiculous. Enginering schools do experiments with students everyday that demonstrate the principles of energy and power. There is nothing new under the sun. There are some technologies that are very promising like atomic fusion and if that ever becomes a reality then we will truly have unlimited power. i love when scientists say things are "impossible" or "there is nothing new under the sun". they really think we have peaked and now know everything there is to know. just like scientists before them that said the phone was impossible or lightbulbs, computers, cars, flying,ect... i hope they live another 1000 years, another 100 years of magic and impossible made scientifically possible.
