My friend called me yesterday and said a water main broke in Bloomington Minnesota because of the cold weather.

That made me wonder if that is happening here in Minnesota where we are prepared for the cold weather, I wonder if other places that aren't used to this cold weather are experiencing bursting water pipes. So I did a Google News search for "Water Main" and got 1,312 results.
This doesn't necessarily mean that there were 1,312 burst water mains but usually the main reason water mains are in the news is if they burst for one reason or another. The Bloomington incident was not one of the results so the number could much larger. I started reading some of the stories and a lot of them are happening in the south in places like Texas and Florida where their water pipes aren't as prepared for the cold.

Elmer, I'm worried about you (& all my kinfolk in Minnesota)- Could you start up the Argosy and head down here to Southern California?
Bring the flamingoes....
Saw a network "news" report about water main breaks tying up traffic in Atlanta. They even said the breaks were caused by unusually cold weather.
Might just do that
Music started playing when I opened up this web page, so annoying!
