A leading global warming skeptic recruited a group of concerned citizens to fact-check the sources referenced in the U.N.'s latest climate-change bible -- and gave the report an "F." Now she's planning the nail in the coffin: a comprehensive audit of the entire report.

Following a series of scandals that led to doubts about the accuracy of the United Nations' most recent climate-change report, Donna Laframboise of NoConsensus.org gathered a group of citizens online and proved that the U.N. over-relied upon so-called "gray literature," rather than using exclusively peer-reviewed scientific reports as the organization was supposed to do.

Now Laframboise and her colleagues are taking the next step, FoxNews.com has learned. They are building an online database that will let everyone see exactly what the report claims -- and precisely how it came to those conclusions.

"There's a pile of work that can and should be done on this report," Laframboise told FoxNews.com.

The Canadian watchdog is working with a computer programmer in Australia whose software will let her and her colleagues further analyze the report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the U.N.'s climate arm.

"It's starting to look good, and he is linking in all sorts of other material, including IPCC reviewer comments to various parts of the text -- at the moment they aren't easy to access by the average person -- as well as the entire Climate-gate e-mail database," Laframboise said.

Here is a good explanation of what's behind the phrase "Hide the Decline".

From our friends at JunkScience.com

HideTheDelineII.jpgSoon after the Climategate scandal broke in November 2009, Minnesotans for Global Warming (M4GW) produced and posted on YouTube a video satire, entitled "Hide the decline." The video parodies an excerpt from the Climategate e-mails in which the University of East Anglia's Phil Jones states,

I've just completed Mike's Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) and (sic) from 1961 for Keith's to hide the decline.

The "Mike" referred to by Phil Jones is Penn State University's Michael Mann who is credited with developing the so-called "hockey stick" graph which purports to represent mean global temperature changes over the past one millennium. The hockey stick graph has been both central to the debate over manmade global warming and controversial. While the hockey stick was featured prominently in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's Third Assessment Report (TAR, 2001), it was largely omitted from the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report (AR4, 2007).

With the recent eruption of Eyjafjallajokull added onto the earthquakes in Haiti and Peru its making some scientists wonder if we are experiencing "Tectonic Implosion"

Eyjafjallajokull.jpg

A new study done by the newly created International Panel on Tectonic Implosion (IPTI) reports that there could be a correlation between oil pumped out of the earth and the increased amount of seismic activity we are currently seeing around the world.

"Tectonic implosion isn't just about earthquakes, it can also cause volcanoes" said Norman P. Schpielabeep an IPTI scientist. "When you suck the oil out of the ground in one area it makes things shift, and its that shifting that wreaks havoc with the earth's crust" said Norman "because nature hates a void".

Where's The Dioxide?

Deep Thoughts By Elmer Beauregard

CabonWaterfall.jpg

It sounds like the Cap and Trade bill is in trouble once again, which I am glad about, so "Carbon" taxes and "Carbon" offsets are in the news again. The problem is they don't want to tax "Carbon" they want to tax "Carbon Dioxide"!

My question is: Isn't calling Carbon Dioxide "Carbon" like calling water "Hydrogen"? Actually its worse then that, water is 2/3 Hydrogen, CO2 is only 1/3 Carbon. What Happened to the Oxygen molecules? Where's the "Dioxide"?

It must be a marketing thing, because Carbon is black and really messy stuff but Carbon Dioxide is a clear and odorless gas and is plant food! Nothing would be Green without CO2!

They want put a tax on Carbon Dioxide, so it will drive up the price of electricity so we will hopefully use less of it just because we can't afford it, I get that part.

My question is: When we give all those billions of tax dollars to Al Gore and Goldman Sachs how are they then going to save the planet? Are they all going to buy more energy efficient yachts?

Here's another thing. Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano is dumping tons of Sulfur Dioxide into the atmosphere, but according to the local news this might be a good thing. Turns out scientists want to spray the skies with Sulfur Dioxide to stop global warming.

My question is: Why is it a bad thing when power companies emit Sulfur Dioxide, but its a good thing when nature or scientists do? If Carbon Dioxide causes Global Warming but Sulfur Dioxide prevents it, instead of restricting Carbon Dioxide maybe we should allow more Sulfur Dioxide emissions.

A long-awaited climate change bill that would put a price on excessive carbon emissions and generate billions of dollars has been postponed indefinitely.

US Senator John F. Kerry's 20 years of climate change plans hit the bottom Saturday after Senator Lindsey Graham, who had allied himself with Kerry on the issue, abandoned the effort in an unprecedented move.

The South Carolina Republican suddenly decided to switch priorities, claiming that that the Senate's Democratic leadership might proceed with a controversial immigration bill first.

"Moving forward on immigration -- in this hurried, panicked manner -- is nothing more than a cynical political ploy,'' Graham said. "I know from my own personal experience the tremendous amounts of time, energy, and effort that must be devoted to this issue to make even limited progress.''

Climate modeller Andrew Weaver launches libel action in Canada for publishing 'grossly irresponsible falsehoods'

Dr.-Andrew-Weaver-with-th-001.jpgOne of the world's leading climate scientists has launched a libel lawsuit against a Canadian newspaper for publishing articles that he says "poison" the debate on global warming.

In a case with potentially huge consequences for online publishers, lawyers acting for Andrew Weaver, a climate modeller at the University of Victoria, Canada, have demanded the National Post removes the articles not only from its own websites, but also from the numerous blogs and sites where they were reposted.

Weaver says the articles, published at the height of several recent controversies over the reliability of climate science in recent months, contain "grossly irresponsible falsehoods". He said he filed the suit after the newspaper refused to retract the articles.

414258-tom-smitheringale.jpgTOM Smitheringale wanted to prove the world was warming. Now he's another alarmist with frostbite.

The 40-year-old from Perth planned to be the first Australian to trek unassisted to the North Pole, but announced he'd raise some consciousness along the way.

As he wrote on his website: "Part of the reason Tom's One Man Epic is taking place now is because of the effect that global warming is having on the polar ice caps."

Indeed, he wanted to see the North Pole while it was still there: "Some scientists have even estimated that the polar ice cap will have entirely melted away by 2014!"

Have your say at Andrew's blog

But Antarctica isn't melting away, and Arctic ice has slowly increased since its big low in 1997.

By Kim Chipman and Simon Lomax, Bloomberg Businessweek

April 22 (Bloomberg) -- When Tea Party activists began protesting last July, it wasn't the health-care overhaul that set them off. The target was a cap-and-trade bill, designed to limit carbon emissions, that had passed the U.S. House of Representatives a few days before.

Their anger, along with opposition from some Democrats, stalled the bill in the Senate. By winter, polls showed more Americans were questioning whether climate change was even a concern. Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican who favors climate action, told reporters March 2 that "cap-and- trade is dead."

Now Graham, John Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat, and independent Joe Lieberman of Connecticut are preparing to introduce a compromise bill in the Senate. They have indicated it will include a mandatory, declining limit on carbon emissions in the electric-power industry while giving utilities the right to buy and sell carbon allowances.

The senators aren't calling it "cap-and-trade," though. The legislation is about "pricing carbon," Graham told reporters in Washington last month.

After being up for one day the new version of "Hide the Decline" hosted on The No Cap-and-Trade Coalition's channel was pulled by youTube, along with all the other copies of the original version of the video made by Minnesotans For Global Warming.

When you click on the movie to play it you get this message.

This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by JibJab Media Inc..

Picture 2.pngIt is true the original version did contain JibJab content, the claymation video with Michael Mann's head on it was made on JibJab's website. I also put a disclaimer at the beginning of the website that JibJab was not responsible for this content.

The new version "Hide The Decline II" did not, however, contain any JibJab content or the image of Michale Mann that was in dispute in the letter from Mann's attorney. So I'm wondering why it got yanked. I'm sure it was a little like playing Whack-A-Mole for youTube, everybody and their sister was uploading the original version to their youTube channel. Maybe in their zeal youTube inadvertently wiped out the new version.

Experts on opposing sides of the global-warming debate are now squaring off against each other over a satirical Internet video.

On one side is Dr. Michael Mann, professor of Meteorology at Penn State University, who has been ensnared in the Climategate scandal. He is threatening to sue Minnesotans for Global Warming (M4GW) after the group produced a satirical video called "Hide the Decline," which features Mann's face and makes fun of his scientific findings, and accuses him of covering up evidence of an apparent decline in temperatures over the past decade.

On the other side is Dr. Patrick Michaels, a contributing author and reviewer on the U.N.'s 2007 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and a well-known skeptic of global-warming alarmism. At a National Press Club press conference Tuesday, Michaels criticized Mann for having "very, very, very thin skin."

The notion that a professor would file a lawsuit over a satirical video "is just quite shocking," said Dr. Michaels.

The No Cap and Trade Coalition is now hosting a new version of the 'Hide the Decline' video.

Instead of focusing just on Mann the new video presents a generic scientist that represents all scientists embroiled in the Climategate controversy. The coalition has developed a white paper entitled, "Dr. Michael Mann: Defamed or Defined by Hide the Decline," which defends the video.

Climategate Figure Threatens Lawsuit over Satirical YouTube Video 'Hide the decline' - No Cap-and-Trade Coalition Says "Bring it on."

Washington, DC -- Penn State University's Michael Mann, one of the central figures in the Climategate scandal, has threatened legal action against Minnesotans for Global Warming (M4GW) over the group's popular satirical YouTube video "Hide the Decline." The No Cap-and-Trade Coalition, a group that includes M4GW, responded today at an event at the National Press Club, releasing Mann's threatening letter and an updated version of the "Hide the Decline" video.

"We understand why Michael Mann is eager to silence public discussion of the hockey stick scandal," said Jeff Davis of No Cap-and-Trade, "but truth is an absolute defense."

The original "Hide the Decline" video, which had more than 500,000 viewers, was removed today from YouTube by M4GW's Elmer Beauregard. It received national attention when Rush Limbaugh played it on his radio show and was later featured on CBS Evening News in the wake of the Climategate email scandal. "Hide the Decline" parodied Mann, the Penn State professor who is largely responsible for the creation of the now debunked "hockey stick" graph, which purported to show a dramatic spike in average global temperature during the 20th century after 900 years of relatively constant temperature.

The video spotlighted a phrase from one of the central "Climategate" e-mails in which the University of East Anglia's Phil Jones explains how he used Mann's "Nature trick" to "hide the decline" of key temperature data. The hockey stick graph relied on "hiding this decline."

Leading Climate Scientist Threatens Legal Action against Minnesota Group for Satirical YouTube Video

There will be a Press Conference Today, April 20th, 10:00 AM (Eastern Time)
At the National Press Club - 529 14th St. NW, 13th Floor, Washington, DC

Attendees will be Minnesotans for Global Warming, Pat Michaels, Myron Ebell, members of the No Cap and Trade Coalition

A satirical internet video was featured on national news programs after it went viral last year. It's attracted the ire of one of the world's most renowned climate scientists, who is now threatening legal action over the video. Minnesotans for Global Warming, the no-budget group behind it approaches global warming issues with a sense of humor. They will give their side of the story and explain how they are dealing with the legal threat.

COW2_1612057f.jpgI wonder how long they took to come up with this idea. Perhaps all the environmentalists who are concerned will start walking around wearing these bags. Latest on the "green" fashion scene? Could they recycle and use the contents for energy or "scent sticks"? - AL

Livestock could actually be good for the environment according to a new study that found grazing cows or sheep can cut emissions of a powerful greenhouse gas [literally].

The research will reignite the argument over whether to eat red meat or not.

In the past environmentalists, from Lord Stern to Sir Paul McCartney, have urged people to stop eating meat because the methane produced by cattle causes global warming.
However a new study found that cattle grazed on the grasslands of China actually reduce another greenhouse gas, nitrous oxide.

Marty Seifert the meeting. was surprisingly pleasant and agreement on every item

I was privileged to have some time to speak with Gov. Candidate Marty Seifert about the Minnesota Governor's race and discuss a few topics. I mentioned to Marty about the video of him being passed around mainly by pro Emmer folks about his favoritism of SF4, where he spoke in favor of it back in 2007 along with other GOP representatives. - from the MN house.

"Minnesota can lead the nation and the world in creating a strong economy and clean energy jobs, thanks to our skilled workforce and entrepreneurial talent. Especially during this economic downturn, we need to make big things happen. We can dramatically reduce our consumption of foreign oil, "halt climate change", and preserve and protect our natural resources. And we can do this as the foundation of our strategy to turn our economy around, create opportunity and put people to work."

[ This is unbelievable, they want to HELP line my pockets mwuah hah hah - Al Gore]

The U.S. should consider a tax on carbon or a value-added tax if it can't tackle the deficit by cutting government spending, former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker said in an interview to be aired Tuesday and Wednesday on PBS.
"I think if we can't do it on the cost side, we've got to go on the revenue side and it's too early to do it, but it's not too early to begin wondering," Volcker said in an interview on Charlie Rose. "One possible approach, as people have talked about is a tax on carbon, tax on energy, that's a big revenue producer if you're willing to do it. Not very popular to say the least."
Volcker is a chair of the President's Economic Recovery Advisory Board, or PERAB. An offshoot of that group is due to present President Barack Obama a set of options on potential changes to the tax code by Dec. 4.
Volcker suggested a tax on consumption should be among the changes under consideration if expenditures aren't brought under control. He said "there are many choices" beyond a value-added tax or an energy tax.

Green Peace [War?] - We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work.

http://www.infowars.com/greenpeace-to-global-warming-skeptics-we-know-where-you-live/ - per info wars.

The article, written by Greenpeace activist "Gene" from India, calls for "mass civil disobedience to cut off the financial oxygen from denial and skepticism".
"Gene" then has a special message for roughly half of Americans who, in the wake of the climategate scandal, are now skeptical of man-made global warming - "We know who you are. We know where you live. We know where you work. And we be many, but you be few."
"Gene" quotes another climate activist who calls for an army of greenies to break the law and take retribution against anyone who stands in their way.
"The politicians have failed. Now it's up to us. We must break the law to make the laws we need: laws that are supposed to protect society, and protect our future. Until our laws do that, screw being climate lobbyists. Screw being climate activists. It's not working. We need an army of climate outlaws."
Greenpeace has not issued a retraction of the comments, preferring instead to buffer the blog at both beginning and end with desperate-sounding explanations insisting that the author has peaceful intentions. The organization has obviously been taking a hammering for this as it worsens into another public relations disaster.
This is by no means the first time global warming adherents have resorted to physical threats in an effort to bolster their rapidly crumbling credibility on climate change issues. In June last year, a global warming activist posted an article on the Talking Points Memo website entitled "At What Point Do We Jail Or Execute Global Warming Deniers?"
Shortly after the article was retracted, a comment traced back to another prominent global warming activist which appeared on the Climate Progress blog threatened Skeptics that "an entire generation that will soon be ready to strangle you and your kind while you sleep in your beds." Website owner Joe Romm defended the comment as "clearly not a threat but a prediction".
