A local power company Wright Hennepin doesn't appear to be the happiest since the mandates came out in 2007 to recieve a portion of their power from Windmills. The Blowhards in St. Paul aren't powering it either. They've provided some quickfacts about it here:
Quick facts about WH's on-site wind generator

Height upon completion: 120 feet
Manufacturer: Jacobs Wind Energy Systems
Model: 31-20 wind turbine
Peak power rating: 20 KW (enough power for about 3 homes[thats pushing it] )
Peak output speed: 25.5 miles per hour
Construction completion date: Dec. 17, 2007 windmill_spring_web.jpg

Now in the hopes to make a relevant point their tracking the power or their so called windmill(s) online. A play by play with: Realtime Generation, Realtime Utilization, kwh Month to Date, kwh Year to Date, Wind Direction, Temperature, Last Update, plus informational tracking graphs of wind history. So far to date its generated: 3,524 Kwh this year. The current reading is 0.83 kw @ 2mph which it seems to level off at 5 kwh @ about 10 mph. Which it achieved for about 5 hours today. see it for yourself right here.

Now this is hardly a long term statistic but it really deflates the idea that people will be able to run very many things off of 5kwh. According to the Environmentalists at gardenpunks 5 kwh challenge, they managed to reduce a SINGLE HOME from 35 kwh/day down to 10 kwh over the last 4 years worth of changes. So in order to reach their goal of 5 kwh per day to be powered by lets say 1 windmill they plan the following:

Fortunately, there are still a number of things we plan on doing to hit this goal.

  • Stop using the clothes dryer, and instead line-dry our clothes/towels.(that ought to be fun in January)

  • Use the air-dry setting on the dishwasher instead of heat dry.

  • Replace the remainder of our lights with either CFLs or LEDs. Our kitchen lighting setup consists of eight 50W MR-16s in a couple of fixtures, which we need to replace since this is one of our most commonly used sources of light. Also, we need to replace our bathroom lights, which consist of six 40W bulbs.

SkepticDeniers.jpg A new report called "The Psychology of Global Warming" was put out on Sept 20th, by two Sidney researchers, psychology lecturer Ben Newell and climate scientist Professor Andy Pitman. In this report they try to identify why a significant part of the population isn't buying their Global Warming propaganda. Their conclusion seems to be people who don't believe in global warming are too dumb too understand.

Here is a quote from the report:

"Contrast the simplicity of this question with the complexity of global warming. Is there any hope of communicating such complex issues if many people fall foul on a simple mental arithmetic problem?"

I come on the other hand to the opposite conclusion. I think the people who believe in Global Warming are the dumb ones because they don't question what they are told by the media and don't check the facts for themselves. They see a cartoon of a drowning Polar Bear and believe the whole scam, it is an emotional response for them.

I think the whole theory of Global Warming is flawed just on this point alone:

Water vapor is the main greenhouse gas, CO2 is a minor greenhouse gas. The more CO2 you put into the atmosphere the less water vapor you have, because you can only have 100% atmosphere. This then would lead to "Global Cooling" which is what I was taught in school in the 70's.

Maybe we are skeptical because just a few years ago we were told one thing and now we are told to believe the exact opposite.

Now Aliens Are Getting Into The Act

If you're like me its hard to believe people like Al Gore when it comes to Global Warming, but would you believe aliens from outer space?

A newly-published book by a retired NORAD officer predicts October 13, 2010 as the tentative date for a fleet of extraterrestrial vehicles to hover for hours over the earth's principal cities. Author says the event to be the first in a series intended to avert a planetary catastrophe resulting from increasing levels of carbon-dioxide in the earth's atmosphere dangerously approaching a "critical mass."

California Climate change is caused by the Pacific Decadal Oscillation Not by Carbon Dioxide

Fullscreen+capture+9162010+95131+AM.jpgABSTRACT: The long term trends in monthly minimum temperature from 34 California weather stations have been analyzed. These trends can be explained using a variable linear urban heat island effect superimposed on a baseline trend from the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO).

The majority of the prevailing California weather systems originate in the N. Pacific Ocean. The average minimum monthly temperature is a measure of the surface air temperature of these weather systems. Changes in minimum surface temperature are an indicator of changes in the temperature of the tropospheric air column, not the ground surface temperature. The PDO provides a baseline minimum temperature trend that defines the California climate variation.

This allows urban heat island effects and other possible anomalous temperature measurement effects to be identified and investigated. Some of the rural weather stations showed no urban heat island effects. Stations located in urban areas showed heat island effects ranging from 0.01 to over 0.04 C.yr-1. The analysis of minimum temperature data using the PDO as a reference baseline has been demonstrated as a powerful technique for climate trend evaluation. This technique may be extended to other regions using the appropriate local ocean surface temperature reference. The analysis found no evidence for CO2 induced warming trends in the California data. This confirms prior 'Null Hypothesis' work that it is impossible for a 100 ppm increase in atmospheric CO2 concentration to cause any climate change.

Global Warming's Silver Lining

Other people are starting to catch on that Global Warming would be a good thing for places like Minnesota.

A new book called "The World in 2050: Four Forces Shaping Civilization's Northern Future." talks about how Global Warming would be good for countries with cold weather. Of course there is no such thing as global warming we just wish it was real.

Here is a quote from Paul Douglas at Startribune.com

Laurence Smith, in his soon to be released book, "The World in 2050: Four Forces Shaping Civilization's Northern Future." The author argues that a thawing arctic and the warming of Canada, Russia, Scandanavia and even the northern U.S. (MSP included) will become "formidable economic powers and migration magnets." Minnesota, a migration magnet? We'll see, but it's a compelling argument. When Minnesota is no longer the butt of cold weather jokes, anything could happen, right?

Now all GOP Senate candidates deny global warming

by Lisa Hymas, Grist.org

phpThumb.jpgBrad Johnson noted earlier this week that all but one of the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate "dispute the scientific consensus that the United States must act to fight global warming pollution." Now, that lone climate realist -- Delaware Rep. Mike Castle -- has been knocked out. So make that all GOP candidates for U.S. Senate deny the need for climate action.

Tea Party upstart Christine O'Donnell, who took out Castle to become the Republican nominee for Senate in Delaware, is right in line with her GOP colleagues on the climate issue. She has attacked climate legislation as a "cap and tax energy scheme which would kill 6,117 Delaware jobs." Sarah Palin, who endorsed O'Donnell and deemed her a "mama grizzly," noted approvingly that the candidate is "against Obama's cap-and-tax scheme."

Just back from the House of Lords for the launch of the Global Warming Policy Foundation's report on the failings of the three Climategate inquiries.

The official inquiries, as we know, found nothing untoward in any of the Climategate emails - nor in the behaviour of the scientists responsible for them. But the GWPF's report, by Andrew "Bishop Hill" Montford, begs to differ. At the conference, one journalist asked Montford to try to summarise the juiciest of his allegations. Montford found this difficult: so many and varied are the failings of the three whitewash inquiries, he simply couldn't decide which ones to choose.

I didn't make this but I wish I had.

By Matt Patterson, New York Post

If this keeps up, no one's going to trust any scientists.

The global-warming establishment took a body blow this week, as the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change received a stunning rebuke from a top-notch independent investigation.

For two decades, the IPCC has spearheaded efforts to convince the world's governments that man-made carbon emissions pose a threat to the global temperature equilibrium -- and to civilization itself. IPCC reports, collated from the work of hundreds of climate scientists and bureaucrats, are widely cited as evidence for the urgent need for drastic action to "save the planet."

But the prestigious InterAcademy Council, an independent association of "the best scientists and engineers worldwide" (as the group's own Web site puts it) formed in 2000 to give "high-quality advice to international bodies," has finished a thorough review of IPCC practices -- and found them badly wanting.

A New Global Warming Report came out today by a "Minnesota" group.

environmentminnesota.gifHACKENSACK - Yet another Global Warming report came out today, it's called "Global Warming and Extreme Weather" and its put out by a group called Environment Minnesota.

I haven't had a chance to look at it in detail yet, but it seems to be the same old recycled shtick. They are trying to blame the horribly cold winter we had on "Global Warming". Plus, there were some floods and it was hot this summer (even though it never broke 100ยบ) and its all our fault. So just like our ancestors we must make sacrifices to the gods of Global Warming and they will save us.

I Googled the term "extreme weather global warming" to see what people were saying about it and was surprised by what I found.

This same supposedly "Local" report was also done in Maryland by Environment Maryland. I found the same thing in NewJersey, Iowa, Pennsylvania (of course), and Virginia. I don't know how long the list goes on.

The other thing I noticed is all the websites have the same logo, so I did a whois and found out that all these sites are registered by the same group Fund for Public Interest based in Boston Massachusetts and by the same person Marcia Eldridge.

It turns out that all these websites are really an offshoot of EnvironmentAmerica.org

Now there is nothing wrong with this, anybody can put up any website they want. Heck I have a website called "Minnesotans For Global Warming". The only difference is I'm actually from Minnesota. I think its a little disingenuous to make all these reports seem like they are generated by the individual states, when actually its the same report with a different Cover and Acknowledgments page for each one.

Plus, this is supposed to seem like some scientific organization, but when you dig a little deeper you find links to the Sierra Club, Green Peace, and even MoveOn.org. I think this is just a last ditch effort by the environmentalcases to push Cap and Trade through before the November elections.

MARYLAND - An update on Wednesday's hostage situation near DC. After a night searching for explosives the all clear's been given at the Discovery Channel building in Maryland.

Police found 4 bombs including two made with propane. They're also gathering evidence from when gunman James Lee stormed into the building and took three of 1,900 workers hostage.

During the ordeal.... Lee ended up on the phone with an NBC producer. Lee talked to the producer for about
10 minutes.

But the standoff continued for another four hours until Lee was shot and killed by police.

The gunman was reportedly angry over the Discovery Channel's lack of programming on global warming.

Lee said he experienced an ''awakening" when he watched former Vice President Al Gore's documentary ''An Inconvenient Truth."
