In 1981 when Ronald Reagan became President he inherited a bad economy, rising unemployment rates and rising gas prices. So what did he do? He cut taxes, he cut spending, he cut regulations, increased oil drilling and he said things like...
"The way to a better life for all Americans is to free the energy of our citizens, to let you the people make decisions with your own lives, and to do that by getting the Government out of your way."
- Ronald Reagan
By 1984 the economy was improving, unemployment was dropping, gas prices were dropping and in the election Ronald Reagan won every state... except Minnesota.
In 2009 President Obama found himself in a very similar situation as Reagan but Obama did the exact opposite. He made the largest tax increase in history with Obamacare, he increased spending, increased federal regulations, restricted drilling and said things like...
"If you've got a business -- you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."
- Barack Obama
Now in 2012 the economy is still bad, we still have high unemployment and high gas prices.
In Obama's new ad he tries to sound like Ronald Reagan, the only problem is, nobody believes him.
So let's hope in 2012 Obama has the opposite outcome that Reagan did in this election... except Minnesota.
